No, that's a partisan position
Depending on who's dirty laundry is being sniffed, it's either "The FBI is non-partisan, your guy is totally guilty!" or "The FBI should be non-partisan, this is a smear job!"
But that's just so much posturing.
As I explained in another post in this thread, nearly every executive agency is a law enforcement agency when you get down to it. And a great many of them are administered by unapologetically partisan hacks. To say "Oh woe, but the FBI!" without seeing the same problem when you put someone in charge of the EPA specifically to take it apart, or put Cucinelli in charge of Immigration Services, or install a personal presidential legal bodyguard as Attorney General is to be unapologetically full of crap.
Political appointees are political. That's the way it is. It's why people try so hard to win the damn elections in the first place, to put their people in control of all the levers of power.
