You apparently missed the comprehensive analysis of the 2000 election results conducted by a consortium of news outlets that concluded GWB would have won in virtually every recount scenario. I think only scenario in which Gore *potentially* wins (and even that is not clear) was a full statewide recount of all disputed ballots... something Gore wasn't even asking for, so that scenario wasn't under consideration as part of the recount process to begin with.

With the benefit of hindsight, I would have preferred Gore over Bush by a HUGE margin, but Bush won the election pretty much any way you slice it.
