Perhaps that's why you were wise to stay away from politics. A really good

father and VP probably would have ensured ahead of time that this conflict of interest never happened. Great that Joe is making that commitment now, but it would have been better for him and for Hunter if he did that 10 years ago.

May be that doing anything including subordinating the country's interests to your family's is the definition of being a good father, but in that case, being a good father comes with consequences. Like maybe paying the price for breaking the law. Nothing suggests that Joe or Hunter broke laws, ours or any other country's. But if there were evidence of that, then "being a good father" would not be much of a defense in court.
