Who can get an MRI for 300 paying cash? Where?

I actually find vet prices to be pretty realistic with "actual" costs since it's much more of a real marketplace than human healthcare, and a veterinary MRI is $3k or more (I know, I paid for 2 this year)... and that's the vet school price. At a private practice, it would most assuredly be higher (again I know because I also paid for a $2000 CT at a private practice and a $900 CT at a vet school). Some of the vet costs are anesthesia, but not a ton.

Keep in mind that in [human] medicine, you're paying to amortize an expensive machine, tech's time, doc's time and radiologist's time ... and all of their insurance in case they fuck up.

Also, I got an MRI on both feet last week and paid a $250 co-pay. I'm fine with that cost.
