The political right screams about environmental priorities, but never says a word about the defense budget and they are (economically at least) equivalent and based on latest DoD threat assessment are becoming more and more equivalent period. While defense/environmental concerns are not socialism, neither are safety nets in the US. Socialism is all about the ownership of the means of production not just the distribution of wealth.

So, if you want to gripe about income redistribution, then DoD certainly fits that bill - and he agreed.
