I'm not saying they should or they shouldn't, but this is a real thing

A friend of mine posted on Facebook about it this morning, complaining that he's working full time, exposed to the virus b/c his employer isn't required to shut down, and the people who are laid off will be able to collect more than he's making. As he put it, the u/e benefit is more than many people here make. He wrote, "Lay me off please." (He later came back and said he's glad to have his job, doesn't want to be laid off, and will work whatever hours they give him, but that he thinks the benefit should be capped at the person's former income--i.e. they shouldn't get a raise).

In low income areas this benefit does incentivize unemployment. Whether that is a necessary evil or not I will leave to others to debate.
