I would have been fine if they capped it


Well, I mean the cap would have been $600 for many of us which is still not close to making us whole but it's enough to pay the bills for a few months if necessary. Like you said though, it's not worth a last minute amendment that threatens to spike the whole deal (Dems weren't going to stand for it) and adds more unnecessary complexity to a process that could potentially already be a distaster for those who need it to work and fast.

So in a perfect world, sure it should be capped and I'd be fine with that from a fairness standpoint. But that's not the situation we're in so it's not worth the extra pain right now.
