Doesn't the science presume that the spread is inevitable and so the focus


is instead on managing the spike so that the healthcare system is capable of treating the infected and the death rate can be kept low as a result? In calculating deaths, the only input other than the death rate is the number of cases, and I don't see how you can prevent the spread in a free society. The best you can do is to try to "flatten the curve."
