I have no idea. I seriously do think the Confederacy is perfectly analogous

to Nazi Germany. Germany had enough sense to realize that the system many of them fought for was abhorrent. They recognize there is no such thing as a good, decent, honorable soldier that fights for evil. There are no statues of Rommel or Guderian or even (as best I can tell) to the nameless Nazi soldier. Germany has Auschwitz and other memorials to Jews and other victims. We have statues to the president of the breakaway Confederacy, the commanding officers and the people that were willing to give their lives for the system.

What's just as shocking to me is that southern heritage and southern pride gets distilled down to four years of its 500 year history. Why the obsession with that period? If your grandparents fought for Nazism wouldn't you define your heritage as anything but that?
