It's about where the historical figure can sit in the culture-
are they someone flawed but worthy enough of respect they can continue to have a building named after them, or are they too tainted by racism/slavery/colonialism, too 'triggering', and we should feel shame for allowing public recognition to continue? It really is a cultural revolution in that sense, one that's been in motion for a while. Maybe Wilson is one of those we should feel that way about, there was an argument about that, and he's down.
Stuff can go with no harm, certainly the Confederate stuff put up with ill intent, and there's a democratic process. The Founding Fathers is where it starts being too far imo, I don't think a country with a culture so fractured it can't let them be is headed anywhere good.
