I think you can argue somewhere like Singapore or Switzerland has better healthcare on the whole, but we don’t have a small population of largely wealthy, educated and healthy people (check obesity rate in Singapore or Switzerland vs USA). Both places also have a strong private sector component in the healthcare system while the public system is mainly a backfill/safety net.

Many on the left here (including maybe Kamala Harris - she’s not sure) favor outlawing private sector healthcare entirely as part of a switchover to MFA.

The better comparison for that is UK (where private healthcare is still partially a component), and I think you’d have a pretty hard time making a case that the average person in the UK has better healthcare than the average person in the US (who has either employer provided health coverage or Medicare which is, effectively, subsidized by the private sector system). The very poorest UK citizens probably do, but I think the point Boca is making is that giving 85-90% of us the [much worse] UK standard of care just so we can say the poorest among are us are no worse off than the poorest in the UK is pretty stupid. I agree.
