testing at rates well above most, if not all, of the rest of the World, so "testing is a disaster" is a disingenuous talking point. But you have to get tested where there is a lab on site for results that fast. If it has to be sent off to a lab, that takes time. Labs have the supplies they need, but when you test as much as we do, that creates a backlog at those off-site labs that only lengthens the time it takes. And while I can't verify it myself, we've certainly heard Pence and others say the Fed labs are vastly underutilized (like half utilization) because the states are not directing their testing sites to use those labs.

One possibly valid criticism I've heard was that they're not certifying "alternative" labs for this testing (i.e. Veterinary labs), but I actually heard that from someone in the administration mentioning that as something they've been trying to get done.
