As a Rep/conservative/Trumpanzee/whatever, I'll address this...

...Philosophically, our side believes in and favors market-based -- not government-mandated -- solutions to problems. We are by no means pure on this, and my side embraces far too much socialism as it is for my taste, but I think it's fair to say we lean this way.

So, the 40,000-foot answer to your question is basically that the government shouldn't be offering -- or be expected to offer -- any solution, but instead should just get out of the way and let the private sector handle it.

Drilling down another layer, a step in this direction would be simply to repeal the ACA, which imposed massive new government intrusions into this market, fouling it up even further. You can just look at the premium increases, coupled with people losing their previously preferred care, to see this. Repealing the ACA with NO replacement would be an improvement.

Any replacement would likely be so incredibly complex that it's beyond message board discussions, but it would basically mean fewer mandates and more choice, IMHO.

I think our best way out of this would be for the Supreme Court to overturn the ACA on Constitutional grounds (which might happen 5-4 with Barrett), forcing everyone to start over. That may be a pipe dream, but I'm not sure I see another realistic way for a true replacement to get done.

Regardless, I think my point still stands that the Senate Dems will filibuster literally anything that the Reps try to pass, so it's a moot point unless the Reps can get to a solid 60 votes or get rid of the filibuster, neither of which I think are likely to happen. Remember all the shenanigans that the Dems had to engage in just to get the ACA passed. The Reps would need equal shenanigans to unwind it, which is extremely difficult.
