Man, so much to object to in this post, even while I agree with some of

It.

I am a fan of allowing fans back to events, especially in outdoor settings. 25%, maybe even 50%. And I agree that many would probably show.

But you are claiming I am “wrong” when all I am saying is that the economy can’t come back based on the number of people who would go about life unburdened by Covid concerns. You can’t legitimately simply claim I’m wrong about that. You’ll have to show some numbers to support your view. I think the course of the economy supports my view. Even in states like Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Arizona, which have lurched from full openings back to partial closures when their policies produce spikes and crushes on hospitals, local economies have not come roaring back more than the rest of the country. I’m not sure these back and forth mandates help - I think they do more damage by sowing seeds of distrust in public policy (a terrible theme nowadays).

You then accuse schools and leagues of virtue signaling. That’s a nice mostly anti-mask buzz-phrase, but I see no reason to think you have the inside scoop on their mindsets. Even worse, you’ve decided that those who disagree with you about pre-college schooling are criminals.

In other words, you think you get to be the sole arbiter of these policies with a new virus. Perhaps you actually have the medical/public health background to sort of justify that, but I doubt that is even possible, given that it is really just an opinion based on best available info.

I actually want schools to find a way to open, but I think the POV you are espousing here is incredibly counterproductive.
