On polling
I can't find the post I was going to respond to, so I'm putting it here. There's some talk about how the polling industry is dead in the water, and it's definitely frustrating to people who are invested and watching the results roll in. But if you're a political party, it has an even bigger effect. Kamala did a stop in Texas the Friday before the election because they thought it was in play. With better polling, she's probably somewhere else.
It cut against the Dems this time, but I could see it biting the Republicans in 2022 or 2024 - they assume they're going to get a bump in the voting, but it never comes without Trump on the ballot*.
*Yes, Trump not being on the ballot is an assumption and in no way a sure thing.
