The Dems claim was that Donald Trump is an illegitimate President, period. It doesn't matter what the finer points of their argument is -- he's illegitmate, period. But it goes without saying that their claim MUST ALSO include the claim that the election itself was illegitimate, or otherwise it makes no sense.

Also, he is not saying at all that the American electoral process is illegitimate. He is saying that the Democrat party has corrupted it, and it needs to be corrected back to what it was meant to be. Remember that it was the Dems that argued for, protested, sued, etc., prior to the election saying that changes were needed because the process was illegitimate -- i.e., not fair to require in-person voting, not fair to require signatures on mail-in ballots, not fair to have firm deadlines for casting and receiving mail-in ballots, etc.

Trump would have had no problem whatsoever conducting the election exactly as it was conducted in 2016, but the Dems changed the rules.
