And this is from people who are educated, generally successful and whose company I otherwise enjoy.

The lies they happily repeat include:
- Evil nurses and doctors are inflating the numbers to get more money.
- CV-19 is no worse than the average flu
- Reasonable measures like masks and social distancing destroy the economy and don't work
- It will go away November 4th, now it will go away January 21
- It was all a conspiracy to blow up the economy to get rid of Trump

I keep saying it, but I don't know how society works when 40% of it believe absolute nonsense. For fuck's sake, on the topic of infectious disease I know at least 10 UVA alums who believe Trump is more credible than Fauci.
