still wouldn't have had any effect on the election results or the actual control of our government. Something this showed was how flipping robust our system actually is in so many ways. No one man, even if that man is the current chief executive of the country, has that much power. The mob cannot gain power by taking one person or one building.

The events this week were totally shameful and disgusting - this week was also a victory for the robustness of our republic. The election occurred, the votes were properly counted, the results have been affirmed, even by the party completely loosing power. An idiot and his merry band of thugs tried to mess it up and, ultimately, it was like a tiny fly that the elephant swatted away with its tail.

It was awful to watch, but we should also be heartened that Trumps attempt to remain in power has been so much of an utter and complete failure at every level all along - from the states (both republican and democrat controlled) to the courts (from judges appointed form every side), to faithful electors from both parties, to the senate and congress (ultimately rejected by enough on both sides of the party spectrum, the the vice president (who so many have called Trumps lap dog).

Our republic resoundingly defeated Trumps attempts. Its something we can look at and take great satisfaction in.
