Maybe I am misreading her - but what does this mean

“ “I do think that several members of Congress in some of my discussions have brought up media literacy because that is a part of what happened here,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so that you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation. It’s one thing to have differing opinions, but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false. And so that’s something that we’re looking into.””

What does “We’re going to have to figure out how to rein in our media environment” mean to you coming from a congresswoman?

Who decides what is “disinformation” or what is “misinformation.” Is just saying there was election fraud disinformation? Is saying the Russians stole the 2016 election for Trump misinformation? Was the Steele Dossier misinformation? We’re the stories of women who accused Clinton or Bush or Trump of sexual harassment misinformation or disinformation? What about stores about Trump’s connections to Russia or Hunter Biden’s connections in Ukraine?

Yeah, lies, misinformation, untruth, half truth. All problems. All wrong. They should stop. People need to be honest, truthful. But do we really want the government event thinking about “how to rein in our media environment” around political speech? It just seems so very very dangerous and likely to go very sideways.
