again, it doesn't matter. Lying is not a reason to expel a senator; otherwise, we'd have no senators.
This "insurrection" talk is just meant to stifle debate in the same way that calling someone a Nazi is meant to do. You are better than that.
A small number of people at the protest -- including those from both sides of the political spectrum -- got violent and committed crimes for which they should be prosecuted. (I'm not referring here to those who simply trespassed. They should be prosecuted, but didn't do anything more than any other "sit-in" protestor ever did.)
Just as with the double-standard that is being applied to Hawley's/Cruz's election contests, a double-standard is being applied to these protests. If what happened on January 6 was an insurrection, then so was what happened during the 2020 BLM/Antifa summer of love when government buildings and officials were attacked ad nauseum (to say nothing of the private property and civilians that were attacked).
But no one tried to prosecute that as insurrection -- in fact, Trump was criticized for even considering calling in the national guard or military to put a stop to that destruction.
