But certainly not a high crime or misdemeanor. The accusation against
Trump is a bullseye for a high crime. So the only question is whether there is validity in impeaching post term, and then whether the senate finds him guilty.
Strict constructionist Repubs wanting to avoid uncomfortable choices are reading things into the Constitution that aren’t there. It certainly doesn’t explicitly forbid this. If a president is guilty of trying to undermine and overturn an election, and of spinning up a mob to assault congress during the pres vote certification, that is not a specific scenario envisioned in the Constitution, and should carry political consequences.
