In fact there’s a point in his speech where he says “go peacefully”,


And I have no doubt we’ll hear that over and over from the Trump defense team. That would be my focus if I were defending him. But of course speeches aren’t judged based on cherry picked phrases read off a page. They are judged by watching and listening to them in totality, including tone and body language. In this case, against the backdrop of all that preceded it, including who actually assembled the mob, and the other speeches that incited the mob.

It is an open and shut case to much of the country, you are right about that. From social media to the pga to Deutsche Bank, a large cross section of the country handed down its verdict. Guilty of the first ever assault against our democracy led by a sitting president.

And the country is punishing it, whatever the senate decides.
