conservatives that claim to have been GOPers before "the party left them" rather than admit they've adapted to anything but conservative positions. Shoot, even Balzie admits his first vote was for Nixon, but I can't believe anyone would think him a conservative, or even anywhere close. (although there are plenty here even left of him) An actual conservative would never vote for the destruction to conservative principles and this country that a Biden administration will bring, no matter how much of an asshole Trump may be.

You can generally recognize these folks because they typically speak in empty platitudes and opinions, like "promoting democracy, following the norms of good governance, telling the truth, and just generally not being one of the most disgusting people on the planet" rather than actual conservative principles. Is wanting to secure borders against illegal immigration, reducing regulations to promote growth, and generally reducing the influence and infringement of Gov't, pushing for energy independence, avoiding engagement in foreign wars wherever possible, etc. not conservative or "good governance"? Or is it just your opinion that it's not? And how is pushing for steps that help us trust the results of an election (i.e. photo ID requirement, no mass application/ballot mailing to poorly purged voter rolls, etc.) not "promoting democracy"?

I actually used to like Kristol, and agree with most of what he said. Then his ego got inflated and he morphed to a smug know it all that can't fathom he could be wrong. And ultimately to the opportunist we see now when he realized that led to his irrelevance with the GOP, and this chance at cashing in and being "loved" by someone again. Again, a true conservative can bash Trump for being an asshole all he wants, but a true conservative would never support, let alone actively promote, what the Biden agenda will bring.
