Then edit your top post. It isn’t “let the patron choose”.
It’s let the business choose.
How many restaurants in today’s world would choose to allow smoking? I’m betting very, very few. Their businesses would suffer. I think nowadays that’s true even of bars. I was a dumbass smoker until the end of 2015, and I generally found that smokers were ok congregating outside to smoke and then getting to go back inside without breathing in all kinds of second hand smoke. I think many of them would choose smoke free.
I can understand making that the business’s choice, but the analogy here would not be each patron’s choice.
