In the case of these evictions, clearly an Israeli entity acting as landlord has a claim. The Palestinian families have their counterclaim, probably feeling like they are not permitted to negotiate on equal footing, and the real goal is to displace them with Jewish residents.

The evictions coincide with Ramadan, when tensions can be stoked, at a moment when Netanyahu was watching helplessly while other parties negotiated a coalition to oust him, and expose him to prosecution for his alleged crimes.

It’s a little too convenient imo. There was no reason these confrontations had to occur now, unless stoking conflict were the goal. I think it was.

I think Hamas was equally opportunistic in its reaction to the rioting in Jerusalem, I’m sure knowing far more Palestinians than Jewish Israelis would be killed and displaced in service to elevating themselves politically as the great defenders of Palestine. Nobody should be under any illusions about the heroism of Hamas. They did bring a reign of hell down on their own people - imo knowingly trading that for enhancing their own position vis a vis the Palestinian Authority.
