They all either mumble rationalizations for these labels or bear them proudly and they are enabled and empowered by Trumpism. They grieve, they complain, they spin tall tales, they deny. But what do they actually offer us? What does the society they want look like? If you boil it down to its fundamentals it's more white, more Evangelical Christian, more intolerant of those who don't fit the mold. They are the new Know Nothings, tinged with the extremist ideologies of the 20th century; Fascism and racial purity. I don't think most Americans embrace these things. But too many Americans excuse and enable it.
