I'd be much happier if they just simplified the tax code, instead of

..hiring an army of IRS agents to chase what I assume are difficult to chase tax schemes employed by wealthy tax accountants/lawyers for the wealthy.

So, the IRS is going to hire someone off the street, that has anywhere close to the tax law experience as those employed on the other side to work around the rules of the system? I'm not seeing that as a successful strategy. IMO, if you can't build an IT system with artificial intelligence smart enough to analyze everyone's tax burden, and provide them with a specific print out every March so they can pay their taxes in April, your damn tax code is too complicated. I'd rather the IRS purchase the IT assets, than hire more government clones that are going to be no match for the people they are up against.
