You still see lots of people wearing surgical masks and FFP2 masks are
materially the same as N95 masks, just that FFP2 masks are rated at 94% instead of 95%, and only N95 masks are approved for medical settings in the U.S.
FFP1 80% (minimum)
FFP2 94% (minimum)
FFP3 99% (minimum)
FFP2 masks are the European equivalent of the N95 mask, much like KN95 masks are the Asian equivalent. N95s are the U.S. standard, while KN95s are the Chinese standard for these close-fitting filtration devices. Both are rated to filter out 95 percent of very small particles (0.3 microns or larger).
At the recommendation of the CDC, lots of people have started wearing KN95 masks.
