quickly in bronchial (upper respiratory) area compared to the lungs. This is probably the reason it is so contagious -- tons of virus being breathed, coughed and sneezed out of people. I am no doc but have read that Delta also actually replicated more slowly in the lungs -- so the fact that Omicron does as well still makes me worried that things may at least be similar in the end to Delta but simply much more contagious going around more quickly. Also, COVID damage is not all about the lungs -- lots of heart issues and immune systems going haywire leading to issues in other systems as well - although much is triggered when it gets into the lung area. But at least in the early stages, Omicron symptoms seem to be presenting more as a big cold and in the throat as opposed to more damage getting into the lungs and heart. I've not seen a really good comparison to this aspect with Delta so it feels hard to properly compare - just general reference made that Delta also replicated more slowly in the lungs compared to the original variant. Exactly how they all compare - don't know.
For sure this is the hope - a cold that can also bolster immunity without killing people or putting more stress on hospitals.
