the rise in the U.S. Just because one variant may become more prevalent doesn't mean that it will necessarily out-compete and displace all other variants.

I find all this talk about how the Omicron variant spreads more easily but results in less serious illness very dangerous, and will lull people into a false sense that COVID is less dangerous now, while the much more dangerous Delta variant is still on the rise. It seems to me that rather than relax, we need to be reacting like we're being hit with a double whammy.

Although it's rare, you can also be infected with more than one variant at a time.
