I appreciate hearing a positive update.

Market performance definitely has a psychological aspect to it. I’m about 95% sure I will be taking a “early retirement” package which will have me stop working at the end of the year. Leading up to this I’ve been very much positioned for income with my portfolio (which has helped mute the up and down swings of late) and i don’t plan to sell during this down market, but rather live off the income from my investments. And the income doesn’t change when stock prices drop. And in a perverse way, the down market is almost “helpful” in that a) it’s much easier to generate income now with higher rates and b) I get a decent cash payout as part of the early retirement plan which would allow me to invest those proceeds at more attractive yields / entry points than before the recent pull back.

Still, even with all that, the hugely negative market performance gave me a bit of feeling of unease heading into a time where I likely won’t be working. So good to hear positive news for a day even if it’s just a dead cat bounce.
