Will play it by ear. Plan to not work for a while and spend more time

with my wife. Her diagnosis 2 1/2 years ago certainly changed my perspective on things and pushed work WAY down on the priority list. I had already taken a reduced responsibility role at my company earlier this year because I couldn't manage both work and home life (my company has been great throughout this). We're going through some MAJOR changes at work and I don't think the same flexibly I've had for the past 2 years is realistic moving forward, so when the opportunity to take a package presented itself, it was sort of a no brainer. A little scary though.

On the positive side, we are in NYC today and tomorrow. Good scan results today. Meeting with surgeon tomorrow. Oncologist thinks with surgery we can "reset the clock"... so to speak on my wife's progression. Will likely be back up in NYC in two weeks for the surgery, which will keep us in NYC for 2 weeks. Hence the desire to not have to balance both work and family
