What is really weird was that we were a very religious family

when my late wife fought cancer. Christians everywhere (good loving support, fwiw--no criticisms)---yet the person my wife became most close to was a practicing Buddhist, who was just a really, really comforting spirit.

My wife fought as hard as humanly possible to live---and would not allow any possibility of passing in words except when talking to our Buddhist friend.

I think in some way my wife always looked at their friendship as evangelical outreach.

You might remember I was dealing with my elderly mom's tumble. She passed away early in the month. I spent a lot of my last 10 or so weeks being supportive. I sent her off with a very Christian memorial as she would have wanted. It is an exhausting experience.
