Zaluzhnyi has his work cut out for him.
It is unclear to me what measurable gains Ukraine can achieve this winter. He's not going to get another target of opportunity like Kharkiv. Liberating the right (west) bank of the Dnipro River took like two months. Everything that comes next will be harder. Crossing the river and pressing the offensive from the west doesn't seem viable. Sure they could cross the river further north and attack closer to the Donetsk border but the Russians have had months to fortify those areas. Any further east and they're striking right at the teeth of the Russian offensive. Since the Russians area happily impaling themselves on Ukrainian defenses over there, there's not much point. What to do?
