But understand, what Hoo82 describes is not a partisan failing...

So called "small govt conservatives" are equally guilty, in that they want low taxes, but with unrealistic expectations of the sacrifices. Just to summarize his point, you have elected officials with only short term concerns - the next election - figuring out how to let their constituents have their cake and eat it too. Which universally winds up being making long term promises to public employees in lieu of take home pay. The elected officials will not be around when the bill comes due.

Well, the bill is due, from San Bernardino to Illinois to Detroit to Puerto Rico (PR is a more complex case about costs of socialism IMO).

Who is responsible when the long term promises to public servants are broken? Truth is, nobody. But the kicking of the can down the road is not just on the "big gov libs". As a group the small govt "conservatives" are really not about small govt. They just don't like the part where govt services need to be funded.
