Russians a TON harder and earlier and been more forceful in his bringing this to the American people.

Again, assuming it is accurate, and I have no real reason to doubt it generally, it really is / was a fundamental attack on our country, maybe even moreso than a military attack.

They should have outed Russia publicly as soon as they knew in August. There should have been more intelligence chiefs making public statements to confirm it. They should have named Putin directly - how directly accusing Putin would out sources and methods I have no idea.

There should have been very swift, public and severe sanctions - the politics of it be damned. Obama played politics with it because he thought Hillary would win the election and it hurt us all in the long run. With the half-hearted response and the failure to really out the Russians until the eve of the election or after it make it look much more political and calculated - rather than actually responding to an attack by a foreign government.

Trump has been a complete boob on this issue from the start, but I think the former administrations somewhat slow and less forceful reaction has allowed Trump more leeway to act this way. Trump is clearly failing on this issue as he has for a while, and I don't have any confidence he will do anything real. It is a bit strange. Trump love being a bully and going after people, this would be a great opportunity to do just that and really go after Russia - wish he would just do it.

You wonder how much of this factors into Comey's public statements about Hillary's emails. If they all know the Russian's are hacking and posting all kinds of emails, then some of her's might come out anytime. Maybe Comey thought he needed to publicly acknowledge both the investigation, the closure, the reopening and reclosing of that investigation because he was concerned the Russian's would release something and it would look like the FBI was hiding things.
