I think there needs to be cost reform, and some amount of skin in the game for kids. Also think we need to clarify the objectives- are we trying to educate well-rounded citizens with thinking/writing/communicating skills and cultural knowledge, make kids employable, or babysit? Right now we try to do all this with very mixed results.

Our top universities are elite, better than in countries like Germany for example, but our mediocre schools are generally worse.

I'm not 100% on board either, but I object to the idea such big ideas are impossible outright. If 60 bil is right federally, that's piss in the ocean.
