HIV is quite different than other STIs


With the exception of herpes, which isn’t transmitable in the absence of an active lesion, every other STI is curable. HIV is not. With a negative viral load it’s unlikely you’d transmit it, but still possible, and something you’d want to protect against. I think within my lifetime we’ll have a cure for HIV, or at least a vaccine. But that day isn’t today.
