Tactically, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Increasingly, it appears that Israel and Saudi Arabia are becoming reluctant allies, just because they share important interests, mainly centered around Iran, and opposition to Hezbollah in both Lebanon and Syria. So I think a lot depends on what is happening behind the scenes. Has Saudi Arabia tacitly accepted this move, but will join in calls for three days of protests for optics? Or is this going to derail this kind of natural alignment occurring between Israel and at least some Sunni Arab interests?
If so, I'm not sure the move doesn't ultimately help those who want to push Israel into the Mediterranean.
