the gimmick is that the reduced rates are set to expire sooner. Nobody argues that the rates are being cut - just that combination of modest rate declines and massive deduction elimination results in a tax increase for many.

It still seems to me to be a moving target, so I doubt anything is known yet. Except one thing - the biggest winner in this are accountants and other tax professionals. Because they have added massive complexity, and with each new 11th hour compromise, it just gets more complicated.

That in and of itself is a massive violation of the spirit of the repub promise. And guarantees that it will be a morass of unintended consequences. Imagine the loopholes to be found in hastily crafted piece of legislation like this.
