The real distinction is investor class vs working rich.
And COL does make a huge difference. Making 400K doesn’t mean you necessarily live a lavish life in a huge house in the best school district (or a refurbished row house in Park Slope or Cleveland Park) in much of the country, especially if you’re early in your career.
But one would have to be FOS to claim making north of 400K is not comfortable everywhere. It is, although I’m not sure what we’re bitching about here. A grand to families with two working spouses when they just handed a trillion dollars to business owners who collect money other people earn for them?
