I intentionally chose the high side of numbers but nothing in my post rises
to the level of "absurdity" either ... $2MM is not an uncommon price for a dwelling in Manhattan where a professional person would want to raise their family. Yes, you can choose to live in CT or Long Island, but not everyone will... and it's not like housing there is "cheap," either.
Either way, the crux of my post is that $400k does not always make a fat cat with nearly limitless disposable income...
