Because LOTS of people move from Nebraska to NYC and put 0 down
on their $2MM townhouse. How about being a little more realistic and assuming "rich" means he has had a career there, has moved up in housing a couple of times and put 50% down? Now that mortgage is 4600 a month. Taxes might be 2000.
More importantly though, are we going to define middle class as an 90 percentile income in the most expensive zip codes in the country? That's pretty ridiculous. That is nobody's idea of middle class.
