The 10th amendment is pretty cut and dried.

I wasn't by any stretch minimizing the complexity of interplay between fed and state law. And I certainly don't dispute that a federal law can be enforced by the feds if the states won't. In fact, I am not generally supportive of sanctuary cities usurping immigration policy from the feds.

But the simple statement "federal law has supremacy over state and local law" can be refuted very simply - with the 10th Amendment.

As you point out, there are SC decisions adding meat to that concept. Frankly, this could be another. The only overly simplistic statement is "federal law has supremacy". That oversimplification being justification for advocating a new US military invasion - of San Francisco.

If Charleston's point were "take sanctuary cities to court", I would not be posting in this thread.
