There is a certain argument that that's refreshing. At least it shows

concern for privacy. One of the things that fascinates me most about that generation is their inability to understand the ramifications of sacrificing privacy for some desired social media presence. Once they put stuff out there, it never goes away.

I don't think too many of my peers when I was a teen would have been cool with transparent book bags. Are girls being asked to carry clear pocketbooks? So, for example, everyone can see what brand of tampon they use?

I can see how this might be the latest attempt at a "gotcha" moment for those looking to discredit these kids and belittle their efforts, but I expect it to fall flat. There are legit reasons that teenagers don't want to walk around with see-through bags. But there should be no complaints about metal detectors, and there should be no restrictions whatsoever on responsible school officials being able to search bags. Even just randomly as far as I'm concerned.
