As a pro-gun person, that was the only solid "nope" the article got from me

I'm firmly in the "guns don't kill people, people kill people" camp. But I don't use that as an an excuse to never have gun legislation. I just think we need to better regulate gun owners, not guns. Given the fundamental point of the 2A (which has nothing to do with sport shooting or hunting), regulating firearms by caliber, muzzle velocity, or magazine capacity should be unconstitutional.

I have no issue with a registry (you have to register to vote, after all). I have no issue with all firearm sales going through an FFL.Better school security and better mental health care are generally good ideas. Not sure what letting the CDC make recommendations has to do with anything. Violence isn't a disease, it is a crime. Maybe the FBI or ATF should be allowed to...at least those agencies deal with crime.

Banning bump stocks makes sense; they are silly anyway. Not sure raising the age to 21 accomplishes anything. For most states, you already have to be 21 to purchase a handgun, and the overwhelming majority of gun crimes are performed with a handgun.

That leaves the amendment to privacy laws so mental health and criminal records can both be searched. This one is very dangerous. It CAN be done correctly (i.e. by preserving Constitutional privacy laws and the right to due process), but it will be very tough to do so.
