That's not at all what she said about UVA, that is what you are inferring

yourself. What she actually said was that there has been a power structure in Charlottesville making policy that is often not in the best interests of the citizens of Charlottesville and she implied with her comments that the University has been complicit in that. She noted too that they are members of the Democratic party by which I take her to mean well meaning white liberals who are nevertheless ensuring their place in the power structure.

I think if you're going to solve a problem you have to face some uncomfortable truths and/or perceptions about institutions that you love (I love the University) and possibly about yourself. You have to be willing to gain some perspective. I think I mentioned on here the other day that I spent very little time in Charlottesville outside the University grounds in my time there. I did however hear a lot of derisive comments about the "townies" living in Charlottesville. Just sayin'.
