And that's the key distinction
"innocent until proven guilty."
We have an accusation from 36 years ago, which the accuser never mentioned to anyone for 30 years; which differs in details between that account and this one; and which didn't mention the accusee by name the first time. It's not even supported by a preponderance of the evidence, let alone anything "clear and convincing" or "beyond a reasonable doubt."
Kavanaugh is being accused of a crime and is absolutely entitled to presumption of innocence. Presumption of guilt, particularly by, say, a writer for the Atlantic based on literally nothing else except that she once had something happen to her (and, bizarrely, specifically because Kavanaugh denies it) is appalling.
This is not women's rights; this is women wielding the nuclear button against men for no other reason than they want to.
