I'd also add, she is an elected official
The people have direct say over her election through voting, that mechanism doesn't exist for SCOTUS. So we need to get it right the first time. People in California can hold her accountable for what they like or dislike on election day and take away her job as a result. Her interview for her job is quite public and voters decide what behaviors are acceptable for their representatives.
