No matter who the assaulter's words are up against, the burden of proof
is on the accuser, not the assaulter. I know this isn't a court of law, it's political and thus there really are no hard and fast rules like in a criminal proceeding. But you have to take a step back and ask how you'd perceive all this if the shoes were on the other foot. Both parties have a bad habit of doing something politically expedient only to regret it later.
He said-she said about an alleged alcohol fueled assault 40 years ago, with no mention until this summer aside from a private therapy session - the burden of proof has to skew big time to the accuser in that circumstance. Whatever the accuser's sexual physiology might be.
